The Legendary Hat
Since 1630 Panama Hats are handwoven in Ecuador. Made of the fibres from the Toquilla Palm, called Palmata Carludovica. In 1906 Theodore Roosevelt wore one of those hats while visiting the constructions of the Panama Canal.
His picture traveled around the world and since then the Ecuadorian Hats have been called Panama Hats.
The Panama Hat has coverd many famous heads, for example those of Ernest Hemmingway, Winston Churchill, Harry Truman, Paul Newman and Alberto Santos Dumont.
Panama Hats are flexible and can be rolled or folded into a suitcase. You find Panama Hats in many different styles, for men, women and children, used all around the globe.
